Happy Father’s Day! In honor of Father’s everywhere who don’t want a tie this year (!!) here are some fun ice cream float recipes perfect for putting a smile on your favorite Dad’s face. Remember, there is no wrong way to eat ice cream!
Floats using Flavored Soda and Vanilla ice cream:
Pellegrino Aranciata Rosso (Blood Orange Soda) tastes like a creamsicle but with a bit of an after taste. A grown up choice. (For kids, get Orange Crush)
Ginger Ale or Ginger Beer – actually a called a Boston Cooler on the East Coast, this is favorite.
Cream soda – try this one with chocolate ice cream!
Start with 3/4 cup orange sherbet and top with 8 ounces of cream soda. You’ll get a taste of your childhood for just 280 calories. An added bonus: sherbet is naturally low in fat since they are generally made with just a small amount of milk or cream.
Boozy Cookie Butter Espresso Madness Float
1 carton Umpqua Dairy Espresso Madness ice cream
¾ cup Cookie Butter
22 oz. chocolate Porter beer
Soften ice cream and fold in Biscoff spread until combined. Place ice cream mixture back in freezer until hard. Scoop ice cream into glasses and pour desired amount of chocolate Porter beer over ice cream.
Hazelnut Brown Beer Float
1 bottle Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale
1-2 scoops french vanilla ice cream
Pour beer into a tall glass and add ice cream. For a thicker texture more like a root beer, let ice cream soften (almost to the melty stage) and add more ice cream- swirl to mix well.
1 cup chilled heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 tablespoons Kahlúa or other coffee-flavored liqueur
Umpqua Dairy Chocolate ice cream
3 12-ounce bottles or 2 pints (about) chilled stout
Using electric mixer, beat cream and vanilla in medium bowl until peaks form. Cover; chill. Pour 1 tablespoon Kahlúa and 1 tablespoon cocoa syrup into each of six 10-ounce glasses. Place 1 scoop of ice cream in each glass. Add stout, pouring gently down side of tilted glass to prevent too much head from forming. Spoon dollop of whipped cream into each glass. Drizzle with chocolate syrup, place spoon and straw in each, and serve immediately.
